BREAK WITH HITLER

RUMANIA AFTER CAROL’S COUP INTERESTING SITUATION OIL AND THE GERMAN MINORITY. (Recd This Day, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, April 21. An interesting situation that has arisen in Rumania as a sequel to King Carol’s coup is being watched closely throughout Europe. King Carol for the moment has isolated Rumania from German influence, to Herr Hitler’s intense displeasure. It appears that Madame Lupescu, who is fanatically anti-Nazi, has directed King Carol toward Britain and France, who are interested in Rumania’s vast oil deposits, on which Herr Hitler has long cast envious eyes, but it is generally overlookd that Rumania possesses a German minority of 750,000, in addition to 1J million Hungarians, loyal to Hitler and providing ample scope for a formidable response to inspiration from Berlin.
