No shooting on First Day.
Although sportsmen may shoot on any Sunday during the shooting season under ordinary circumstances they may not this year shoot on the opening day (May 1), which falls on a Sunday. This anomaly has been discussed at meetings of the councils of several southern acclimatisation societies, and it has been decided to make representations to the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon W. E. Parry) with a view to having the restriction waived.
Looking Backward. Apropos the article appearing in Tuesday’s issue of the "Wairarapa Times-Age" under the above caption. Mr A. C. Holms writes: “Accidents sometimes happen, even in the best of regulated newspapers! Will you kindly note that the names of three members of the “Wairarapa Star" and "Age” staffs of 1902-3 were missed in the setting of the list contributed, viz.. those of Messrs Peter Marsh. Charlie Jackson and Jack Skipper." The Lighting Complex.
"People have gone mad with lights in shops, and they should be encouraged," remarked Mr R. J. King, when it was reported at yesterday's meeting of the Wairarapa Electric Power Board that commercial light used during March showed an increase of 22.830 units over the corresponding months of last year. Mr H. P. Hugo pointed out that there were now three more large shops in Masterton. but the sec-retary-manager. Mr G. Brown, said that tile increase was general throughout the district.
