LOCAL BODY ELECTIONS
NO NOMINATIONS SO FAR FOR BOROUGH SEATS. SEVERAL RECEIVED BY COUNTY. Up to noon today no nominations had been received by Mr T. T. Denbee. Returning Officer for the Masterton Borough Council, for the forthcoming local body elections. In view of the fact that Saturday and Monday (Anzac Day) are holidays little time is left for candidates to make their nominations, as these close in the case of the borough at noon on Wednesday next. So far, the Masterton County Council has received nominations for one councillor, one representative on the Wairarapa Hospital Board, and one representative on the Wairarapa Power Board, as follow: — ■ Masterton County Council, Rangitumau Riding, Henry Heathcote Mawley, nominated by Messrs T. A. Brown and G. F. Elliott. Wairarapa Hospital Board: Henry Heathcote Mawley, nominated by Messrs T. A. Brown and G. F. Elliott. Wairarapa Power Board: John William Colquhoun, nominated by Messrs P. R. Welch and R. E. Gordon Lee. Nominations in the case of the county close on Friday next at noon.
