YOUNG FARMERS’ CLUBS

ANNUAL MEETING AT MASTERTON. ELECTION OF OFFICERS. The annual meeting of the Wairarapa Young Farmers’ Clubs was held in Masterton this morning. There was a large attendance of delegates from all parts of the district. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: —Patron, Mr G. H. Perry; president, Mr W. James; vice-president, Mr Don McGregor; executive committee, Messrs J. M. James, Bremner (advisory members), H. C. Pearce (Featherston). G. Blatchford (Masterton), S. Fisher (Carterton), R. Ingley (Greytown), E. Beiliss (Tinui), N. Martin (Martinborough). In reply to a question, Mr W. F. McLaren, Dominion President of the Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs, said that the finances of the Federation were in a much better position than they had been previously. Last year, said Mr McLaren, the Government had handed over the sum of £5OO to the Federation. Of that sum, £lOO had been allotted to the North and South Islands. Under the new arrangement. whereby the Islands would be divided into two council districts. £5O had been allotted to each council. When those councils had been formed and were functioning, the money would be distributed for district activi ties.
