LEAGUE OF MOTHERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The League of Mothers held their monthly meeting in the Parish Hall on Thursday afternoon, there being a good attendance of members over which Mrs Arch. Clark presided. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Charles Pendegrast, R. W. Matthewsj Bladen, J. Buck. Mrs Boston gave a vocal item accompanied by Mrs Stell. The hostess- | es were M-isdames Hardy, Jury, Boston and C. Buck. FACIAL ECZEMA. Facial eczema among sheep, a dreaded disease which was prevalent in the Manawatu and other districts a year or two ago, is reported to have broken out in the South Wairarapa. ST. JOHN'S CHURCH. The annual meeting of parishioners of St John’s Anglican Church was held in the Parish Hall last night when there a large attendance. The Rev J. T. Holland presided. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Vicar’s warden, Mr D. H. S. Riddiford; people’s warden, Mr Mutter; synod representative, Mrs Algar Williams; vestry, R. W. Matthews J. Matthews, C. Pearce, S. W. Booth, J. C. Bidwell, J. W. Holland, A. S. Kilsby, P. Smith, H. W. Willis, and Mrs Algar Williams. Items were given by the choir, Mr Ken Allen and Mr H. Graham. Mrs Allen and Mr Booth were the accompanists. A dainty supper was much enjoyed. OBITUARY. i The death occurred on Wednesday after, a few days illness at a Private Hospital, Wellington, of Mrs Ruby Asken, wife of Mr Hugh Asken, of Brooklyn. The late Mrs Asken, who was the second daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Lyford, Tauherenikau, was well-known in the Wairarapa, particularly during the War years, when she gave of her services freely for the comfort and well-being of the soldiers in camp at Featherston. Besides her husband she leaves two young children to mourn their loss. PERSONAL. Miss C. Collins, who has been convalescing on the East Coast after her recent illness, has returned home.
