CARTERTON

RUGBY UNION MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Wairarapa Rugby Union Management Committee met last evening, all members being present except Mr Q. Donald who is absent in Sydney. Mr H. McPhee (Greytown) presided. The following committees were appointed to conduct the seven aside tournaments tomorrow:—Senior, Messrs C. Gray, F. Hensori, E. B. Booth, M. Parker; junior, Messrs K. Reid, K. Fairbrother, S. Pearson, N. G. Rayner.

The Wairarapa College was granted the use of the Memorial Park on Wednesday afternoon when the ground is not otherwise in use.

T. George (Carterton) was reinstated as a junior.

N. Galey was transferred from Dalefield to Greytown.

Subject to clearances being produced the following transfers were granted: D. Alexander (Greytown to Carterton); A. Deller, W. Haste, T. Walker, M. Hurley, R. Braggins, all Dalefield to Carterton. The distribution of footballs to schools was left in the hands of the secretary.

The Red Star Club was granted permission to play Mangatainoka at Pahiatua at the weekend. The Rugby Union’s Anzac Day wreath is to be placed on the Carterton Cenotaph.

The Old Boys and Red Star Clubs were granted permission to use the Memorial Park gymnasium for training purposes.

A Wairarapa Hockey Association deputation applied for the use of Memorial Park to play a match against the Indian team on June 11. It was resolved that the ground be let to the association at a charge of 15 per cent, of the front gate takings, the hockey association to pay the groundsmen for the work done on the ground in connection with the game. The association is to obliterate all confusing lines left on the field and make good any damage done to the property. Should the game not be a financial success the union will review its charge.

Messrs K. Fairbrother and M. Parker made donations of £1 each to the funds of the union, for which they Were thanked.
