GREYTOWN
THE MAYORALTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) The sitting Mayor (Mr A. W. Horton) has decided to again be a candidate for the Mayoralty. HOCKEY GROUNDS. In reply to a request. made by the hockey players, the Greytown Borough Council has decided to have the hockey ground rolled. EUCHRE TOURNAMENT. At a euchre tournament held at Morison’s Bush, the prizes were won as follows:—Ladies, Mrs McGarry 1, Mrs Whitehead 2; Mrs Evans 3. Men: R. Manihera 1; R. Marks 2; D. Larsen 3. BOROUGH FINANCE. According to a statement made at the borough council meeting this week the finances are in a sound position. Mr A. W. Horton (Mayor) stated that the District Fund Account was in credit to the extent of £570. He said that the following expenditure Arnuld not recur: —Additional grant foi' Hospital road, £100; grant for housing survey, £75; additional grant for Fire Brigade hose £35; Hospital road £5O. Total £260. PERSONAL. Mr J. F. Thompson has left on a visit to Nelson. Constable Gregor is still confined to his bed, being seriously ill. Constable McEachen, of Wellington, is relieving him in his police duties.
