FEATHERSTON
QUEEN CARNIVAL CONTEST. (“Times-Age” Special.) A euchre tournament was held in the Anzac Hall on Wednesday afternoon in connection with the Queen Carnival. The prize winners were:— Mrs Leslie 1; Mrs Wakely 2; consolation, Mrs Halpin. Mrs Baker was the winner of the lucky number. FIRE BRIGADE CARD TOURNEY. The Featherston Fire Brigade held their weekly card evening in the Anzac Hall on Tuesday night when there was five tables. The prize winners were as follows: —Ladies, Mrs Fairbrother 1; Mrs Rae 2; men, Mr Rewai 1; Mrs Jackson 2. PERSONAL. Mrs E. M. Wakely has returned from the South. Mr and Mrs Kayll (Auckland) are the guests of Mr and Mrs Ashdown, “Te Moana,” Western Lake. The late Mrs Maud A Neill, who died this week, was the only daughter of Mr and Mrs Timothy Benton Born in Kaiwaiwai, where she had lived many years, she later removed to Featherston. She is survived by a husband, and three sons, (Graham, Maurice and Norman) all of Featherston. The funeral took place on Wednesday and was largely attended. The pall bearers were Messrs D. Neill, S. Murphy, A. Feist, J. Merwood, H. Benton, E. Booth. The service was conducted at the church and graveside by the Rev J. T. Holland.
