CARTERTON
A GIFT EVENING. (“Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable “gift evening” commencing with a cocktail party at 6.30 o’clock was held at the residence of Mr and Mrs J. A. Freer, Park Road, Carterton, last night, in honour of Miss Eileen Milner, daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Milner, of Mauriceville, who is shortly to be married. There were about forty friends present and many gifts were received. Miss Milner’s fiancee (Mr George Corlet), of Carterton, responded very ably on behalf of Miss Milner, and thanked everyone for their expressions of goodwill. Dancing and games were indulged in, an innovation being the presence of a piper who gave selections on the bagpipes, which added to the gaiety of the party. A dainty supper was served. The guest of the evening was dressed in navy blue, and Mrs J. Freer (hostess) wore a smart ensemble of black, relieved with white. Proceedings concluded at midnight with the customary musical honours.
