WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

KOPUARANGA MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute was held in the hall on Thursday, Mrs S. J. Clarke presiding over a good attendance. The roll call for the month . wast “The most useful article in the house.” The delegates appointed to attend the Bush-VZairarapa Federation at Carterton were Mesdames A. Donald and H. Evans. The delegate to attend the conference at Wellington is Mrs Jarrett. > Mrs R. Miller, Mrs Jarrett and Miss Wright were appointed to take part in the debate with the Mauriceville Women’s Institute at the May meeting.

A hearty vote of thanks was passed to Mr Harry Cottle for a donation of a tin trunk to the Institute..

Competitions judged byMrsScharnweber resulted as follows: — Best bloom: Miss Wright 1, Mrs Miller 2, Mrs Wright 3. Decorated table: Miss Wright 1, Mrs Miller 2, Mrs Evans 3. A demonstration on the making of posies, buttonholes, and shoulder sprays was given by Mrs Scharnweber. Members accorded her a hearty vote of thanks for demonstrating and judging. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames R. Miller, H. Evans, M. H. McKenzie.

The vice-presidents elected for the ensuing year were: —Mesdames A. Donald, C. P. Jarrett, A. B. Cottle. The singing of the National Anthem brought a happy afternoon to a close.
