TARARUA POWER BOARD
BUSINESS AT MONTHLY MEETING (“Times-Age” Special) The monthly meeting the Tararua Electric Power Board was held on Thursday. There were present, Messrs J. W. Wilson (chairman), W. Simpson, Robt. Judd, C. T. Richardson, Paul Davier, A, W. Bissett, Thos. Fooby, Walter Britland, J. G. Brechin, and J. B. Carruthers. Accounts amounting to £6717 16s 4d were passed for payment. A loan proposal of £40,000 for the reticulation), of the Akitio County was adopted. The proposal will be subject to a poll of ratepayers on May 11. The proclamation bringing the County into the inner area of the Board has been gazetted. Mr S. W. Gunson, county clerk of the Akitio County, was appointed returning officer.
Arrangements for a loan of £6OOO from the State Advances Corporation was approved. Mr R. Judd, who is not seeking reelection as representative of the Mauriceville County, was farewelled by the Board and Staff. A suitable recognition of his services was entered in the proceedings of the meeting. Several overdue accounts were placed in the hands of the board’s solicitors for collection.
The resignation of Miss Cook was received with regret, the board members tendering her their good wishes for her future.
The statutory meeting of the board was fixed for Monday, April 25.
A special committee was appointed to examine the present tariff with the object of advising the board as to possible reductions.
