PREDATORY FORCES

STATEMENT BY AMBASSADOR • IN PERU ADVOCACY OF COMBINED ACTION. REFERENCE TO SIGNIFICANT PROPAGANDA. LIMA (Peru), April 14. The United States Ambassador, MrLaurence Steinhardt, in a broadcast speech, urged the Latin American nations to present a united front against Old World predatory forces seeking new or lost fields to conquer. He asked public opinion throughout the Western Hemisphere to marshal against those believing that the law of the jungle is man’s destiny. “We may well ask ourselves why nations thousands of miles distant and already seriously impoverished should expend huge sums on propaganda among us, unless they are expecting a very handsome return on the investment,” he added.
