CROQUET

MASTERTON CLUB OFFICIAL- CLOSING OF SEASON The Masterton Croquet Club held its official closing on Thursday. The weather was not all that could be desired, but the keen members made the best of it and were able to get through three rounds of progressive croquet, and a competition for making hoops from all angles. The winners were: —Progressive croquet: A grade, Mrs Polson; B grade Mrs Scrivener; C grade, Mrs Taylor. Angles, Mesdames Staniforth (1), Aitken (2), consolation, Mrs Perry. After tea to which honorary members and friends were invited the cups and trophies won during the season were presented as follows: —A championship rose bowl, Mrs C. Polson, Mrs J. Donnelly, runner-up; B championship (Dunderdale rose bowl), Mrs J. Jenkin, runner-up, Mrs Betteridge; C championship (Polson cup), Mrs G. Scrivener; beginners (Scrivener miniature cup), Mrs Snowsill; Best memorial cup, Mrs Polson, runner-up Mrs Scrivener (handicap singles). On behalf of the members, Mrs Aitken made presentations to the president and secretary thanking them very heartily for their services to the club.
