CHINESE STILL PRESSING OFFENSIVE WEDGE DRIVEN INTO ENEMY LINES. JAPANESE WITHDRAW GUNS AND MUNITIONS. (Recd This Day, 1.10 p.m.) HANKOW, April 13. The Chinese wiped out a small Japanese garrison a reoccupied Chufu. They have also driven a wedge into the Japanese lines between Hanchwang and Chisien. The Japanese are withdrawing heavy guns and munitions. SOUTHERN FORAY PLANES ATTEMPT TO BOMB CANTON. DRIVEN OFF BY CHINESE FIGHTERS. (Recd This Day, 1.10 p.m.) SHANGHAI, April 13. It is reported that eight Japanese warships, an aircraft carrier and twenty transports have concentrated off Foochow and Amoy. Forty planes reconnoitred Amoy. Twenty-four of the machines flew on to Canton, which they attempted to bomb, but they encountered a flight of Chinese fighters, which shot down four and drove off the remainder.
