FORESTERS’ LODGE
FORTNIGHTLY MEETING. SOUND FINANCIAL POSITION. The fortnightly meeting of the Masterton Foresters’ Lodge was held in the Foresters’ Hall on Monday, when a good attendance of members was presided over by C.R. Bro. R. L. Crocker. Bro. C. A. Leigh reported that the members on the sick fund were progressing favourably. Mr. Esler, of the W.E.A., forwarded a challenge to a debate with members of the lodge, which was accepted. The debate will take place in the lodge room on May 9, at 8.30 p.m. Bro. C. W. Perfect tendered his resignation as a delegate to the U.F.S. Council. Bro. S. V. Sharman was elected to fill the vacancy. Bro. C. A. Leigh reported that he had purchased two gas heaters for the lodge room. He stated that the Saturday night card tournament was being well patronised. Bro. Leigh presented the annual balance sheet of the social committee. The committee was congratulated on having had such a successful year. Bro. G. Selby reported on the Hospital Association meeting. The secretary presented the quarterly returns and balance sheet which showed that the lodge was in a very sound position, both financially and in membership.
Owing to the next meeting falling on Anzac night is was decided to allow the meeting to lapse. The next meeting will be held on May 9. Bros. R. L. Crocker, T. N. N. Coley and G. G. Jackson were appointed delegates to represent the lodge at the Court Kopuaranga Lodge jubilee function which is to be held on Easter Monday night at Mauriceville. Sick pay and accounts amounting to £l3 10s were passed for payment.
