STATE THEATRE.

“MAKE A WISH.” Bobby Breen’s new musical starring vehicle, “Make a Wish,” which will 0 open its season at 10.15 p.m. tonight, brings not only the engaging boy lyric tenor in a characteristically Bobby Breen starring role, but also the polished Basil Rathbone and Marion Claire, N.B.C. singing star, as the adult romantic principals of the story. In the lavish scenic production are also featured such popular players as Henry Armetta, Ralph Forbes. Leon Errol, Donald Meek, Herbert Rawlinson and Leonid Kinskey. Many tuneful songs were written for the picture by Oscar Straus, famous Viennese composer, and collaborated with the lyric writers, Paul Webster and Louis Alter, in the creation of such hit numbers as the theme song, “Make a Wish,” “Music in My Heart,” “BirchJake Forever,” and “Campfire Dreams.” In the latter songs, Bobby is assisted by the 68 members of St. Luke's Choristers the outstanding boys’ singing organisation of the pacific Coast. An excellent supporting programme includes Mickey Mouse in Walt Disney’s latest coloured cartoon. “Hawaiian Holiday,” a special news reel of the British Empire Games showing Boot winning the 880 yards, a splendid study of horses, “Royal Steeds,” coloured traveltalk, interest and news reels. Tonight's programme commencing at 7.30 contains two big features.
