NAVY LEAGUE

ANNUAL MEETING ELECTION OF OFFICERS The annual meeting of the Masterton Branch of the Navy League was held yesterday afternoon. There were present:—Miss B. Vallance (in the chair), Mesdames H. McKenzie Douglas, W. A. Michael, J. M. James, E. G. Norman, R. C. Drummond, G. R. Gavith, A. W. Don, H. Baty, AV. G. Lamb and the Misses Cameron, Maimsell and Guild. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames O. A. Bunny, A. Caselberg, T. Jordan, F. Whitton, J. V. Gordon, J. Caselberg, f>. Fletcher, and the Misses Vallance, Gray and J. McLaren.

The report and balance sheet were adopted. The election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mrs. A. Caselberg; vice-presidents, Mesdames O. A. Bunny, A. H. Daniell, R. C. Drummond, H. McKenzie Douglas, S. R. Gawith, J. V. Gordon, T. Jordan, and the Misses Cameron, Gray and B. Vallance; general executive committee: Mesdames AV. H. Booth, R. F. R. Beetham, A. W. Don, S. Fletcher, D. M. Graham, C. C. Jackson, W. G. Lamb, AV. A. Michael, E. G. Norman, F. AVhitton and Misses W. Daniell, F. Maimsell and J, McLaren; hon. treasurer, Miss C. Cameron; hon auditor, Mr A. D. Low; secretary, Miss A. Sellar.

The following resolution was passed: —“That Wellington Branch be urged to approach the Wellington Education Board with a view to obtaining permission for Navy League lecturers to again enter primary schools during school hours.” It was decided to invite Mr Darroch to visit Masterton as soon as possible after his return from Australia, and to endeavour to arrange a public meeting during his visit. It was resolved not to make an appeal for garments at present, but to do so later should the necessity arise. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring president (Miss B. Vallance), for her work during her term of office. The meeting closed with votes of thanks to Mr A. D. Low for having audited the books, to Mr. J. V. Gordon for having collected subscriptions, Mr R. H. Williams for valuable assistance and to th.e Press.
