WOMEN’S DIVISION

TIRAUMEA MEETING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The annual meeting of the Tiraumea branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union was held on April 7. Mrs Harman, Senr., was re-elected president and Miss C. Jewitt secretary. Mesdames Harman, Junr., D. Jewitt, S. Raleigh, Wallis and Graham wore elected vice-presidents. There was a good attendance of members present. Mrs Wallis and Miss Harman acted as hostesses.

The competition for the best handkerchief made out of a salt bag was won by Mrs McKenzie, with Mrs D. Jewitt second.

Mrs Hansen made a small presentation to the President and retiring secretary (Mrs Harman Junr.), as a token of appreciation from the members for the work done during the year.

During the month a social afternoon was held to farewell one of the members, Mrs Moss, who is leaving the district. She was presented with a stool from the members of the Division. During the afternoon Mrs Hansen and Mrs M. Robbie sang and Miss E. Hansen recited. Community singing and a one-act play called “A Quiet Chat” (acted by members of the Division), passed away a most enjoyable afternoon.
