TRUST BOARDS

WAIRARAPA AND OTAKI. AMALGAMATION DECIDED ON. In connection with the conference held at Wellington recently by the Otaki and Wairarapa Trust Boards to consider the question of pooling the Trust Board funds for the purpose of erecting a school either at Carterton or Otaki, Mr K. W. R. Tamatea, who attended the conference, states that the delegates were invited by his Lordship, the Bishop of Wellington, to a lunch at the Railway Station. The conference was resumed at 2.30 p.m. and at 6 o’clock a decision was arrived at by the conference that the two Trust Boards (Wairarapa and Otaki) should amalgamate on an equal basis. It was decided to make additions to the cottage at Otaki to accommodate male Maori pupils. It was also decided that the girl pupils be accommodated al the Hukarere College, at Napier. It was further resolved that a new member on the trust board be selected by the natives of the Wairarapa.
