POOR OUTLOOK
PROSPECTS OF NEW FRENCH GOVERNMENT SHORT LIFE PREDICTED. NEAR FUTURE REGARDED PESSIMISTICALLY. (Recd This Day, 11.55 a.m.) By Telegraph—Press Association. Copyright. LONDON, April 11. The Australian Associated Press says that although M. Daladier has a moderate chance of a successful vote tomorrow, those in close touch anticipate that his Government will be shortlived and consider that the prospects of a strong administration are more remote even than they were three weeks ago. They regard France’s immediate future most pessimistically. STILL MORE STRIKES. ARMAMENT PROGRAMME HELD UP. (Recd This Day, 1.20 p.m.) PARIS, April 11. The increase in stay-in strikes has brought to a standstill the armament programme, adding to the Government's problems. Forty factories are idle, aggregating 102,000 employees. M. Daladier will seek unrestricted powers to deal with the economic and financing situation for three months, but, judging by the Senate’s attitude, the Bill is unlikely to pass.
