SECOND ATTEMPT PLANNED BY SIR H. WILKINS VESSEL OF NOVEL DESIGN By Telegraph—Press CHICAGO, April 9. Sir Hubert Wilkins will make a second attempt to cross the North Pole by submarine in the spring of 1939. The submarine will be 75ft long and 14ft in diameter, equipped with a retractable conning-tower. through which an ice-boring mechanism can operate.

One of Sir Hubert’s objectives is to locate the supposedly mythical Croker Land that Peary ‘ saw south of the North Pole and north-east of Ellesmere Land.
