OBITUARY

MR JOHN ROLAND HAYES The death occurred in the Wellington Hospital yesterday morning, after a short illness, of Mr John Roland Hayes, a son of Mrs Hayes and the late Mr J. S. Hayes of Masterton. The late Mr Hayes, who was born in Masterton in 1892, was educated at the Central School and enlisted with the Main Body of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, being invalided home in 1915. For many years he was wellknown as a taxi proprietor, and mail contractor in Masterton and about five years ago he took up his residence at Lower Hutt. He is survived, besides his mother, by a widow, one son and one daughter, and also a sister. Mrs W. Marigold, of Hastings, -and two brothers, Messrs H. T. Hayes, Masterton and W. H. Hayes, Taumaranui. The funeral will take place in Masterton tomorrow, leaving the residence of Mr H. T. Hayes, 78 Bannister Street, at 2.30 p.m. for the Masterton cemetery.
