ST. MATTHEW’S CHURCH

PROCESSION OF PALMS. STRIKING SPECTACLE. Very striking was the annual procession of palms observed at St. Mat--thew’s Church yesterday morning. Led by the choir the children of the parish Sunday Schools, carying palms, encircled the interior of the church singing the Palm Sunday hymn as they marched. The church was packed to the doors, many extra seats having to be provided. The whole service was appropriate to the occasion and the choir gave a particularly fine rendering of the “March to Calvary.” Again in the evening there was a splendid congregation, when following upon a C.E.M.S. Renewal Service the choir gave a reverent and inspiring presentation of Stainer's “The Crucifixion.” The Vicar in thanking the choir said that the glorious services of that day made a fitting climax to the most wonderful Lent the parish had ever known and a splendid preparation for the special services of Holy Week, Good Friday, and Easter.
