MEETING OF WAIRARAPA SOCIETY. SATISFACTORY FINANCIAL REPORT. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the meeting of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society in Carterton on Saturday, Mr J. R. McLeod (vice-presi-dent) occupied the chair in the unavoidable absence of the president (Mr J. Fisher). Twenty-seven members were present. The treasurer (Mr G. Brown) stated that there was a credit balance of £414 9s lid for the financial year just concluded, as compared with an estimate of £331 10s lOd. In the previous year there was a balance of £126 5s lid. Receipts for the’ year just ended exceeded the estimate by £lOO and expenditure was less than the estimate by £37. Receipts totalled £3506 6s, including subscriptions £793, donations £413 and proceeds of stock sales £697. Expenditure included Show expenses £1383, and administration £669. The assets of the society were stated at £16,637 and the liabilities at £12,811. A hearty vote of thanks to the secretary (Mr L. H. Smart) for his excellent presentation of the accounts was moved by Mr Brown, seconded by Mr W. Howard Booth and carried by acclamation. \ It was decided that extensive improvements be made to the P. and A. offices.
The hon. secretary of the Carterton branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union forwarded a donation, stating that the branch was grateful for the use of a room it had been granted by the society for the past six years. On account of increasing membership the branch was now securing a larger room. The donation was accepted with thanks.
