CROQUET

LANSDOWNE CLUB. SEASON CLOSED. The Lansdowne Croquet Club held its closing day on Saturday last. Owing to the unsettled state of the weather the outdoor competitions had to be abandoned. The afternoon was spent playing “500” at the residence of the president (Mrs Dagg). Mrs Grigg was the winner of the first prize and Mrs Wright the second. A travelling prize was won by Mrs Shearer.

After an enjoyable afternoon tea Mrs Dagg presented the trophies won during the season as follows: —Burling Cup, Mrs Morris; the most improved C grade payer, Mrs Shearer; the. best first year player, Mrs Hedley. On behalf of the new players, Mrs Donovan made a presentation to Mrs Morris in appreciation of the time spent by her in teaching them. A vote of thanks to Mrs Dagg for the use of her home closed a very pleasant afternoon.
