SERIOUS INJURY

CONDITION OF COMMANDER BOWER. FOLLOWING ON EPISODE IN COMMONS. LONDON. April 7. Commander R. A. Bower, M.P., is still in bed, attended by an ear specialist. The blow caused internal bleeding between the layers of the left ear drum, resulting in an ahaematoma which burst on the following day, tearing the drum. Fortunately the burst was outward. The bleeding has now ceased, but the condition of Commander Bower is causing anxiety.

Commander Bower received his injury in the House of Commons. He angered a Labour member (Mr E. Shinwell) by a provocative remark and Mr Shinwell crossed the floor and slapped Commander Bower’s face.
