CARTERTON
CARNIVAL QUEEN CONTEST. (‘•Times-Age” Special.) In connection with the Carnival Queen contest which is being held under the auspices of the Catholic Churches of the Wairarapa, further functions will be carried out during the next few weeks. On Saturday, April 23, a Garden Party will be held at the Presbytery grounds, Carterton, in aid of the Carterton Queen, Miss Zena Freer, and further details will be announced later. DEATH AT SUVA.
The death occurred at Suva on April 6 of Hugh Stuart Forbes, third son of Sir William Stuart-Forbes. The latter was a resident of Carterton in the early days, and was one of the first secretaries of the Wairarapa P. and A. Society. He afterwards resided in the Hutt district. CHURCH SERVICES.
There will be a Presbyterian Church service held at the West Taratahi School on Sunday afternoon. An Anglican Church service will be held at Gladstone on Sunday morning, and at Parkvale in the afternoon. PERSONAL.
Mrs Jas. Donald and family of Taranaki, are visiting Carterton, and are the guests of Mr and Mrs Gavin Bruce, Kent Street. Mr and. Mrs R. Alexander, of Miramar, Wellington, are staying with Mr and Mrs N. P. Williams, Garrison Street.
