A camel bell known to have been used by the famous Burke and Wills expedition in Central Australia is included among a number of interesting new exhibits which have made their appearance in the Hawke’s Bay Museum. The bell is attached to a heavy leather strap, which was formerly part of the camel harness. The camel bell came from the well-known collection of the late Mr G. J. Black, of Gisborne. From the same source tlie museum has acquired a set of legirons used in Tasmania in the convict settlement days. This exhibit is accompanied by a bunch of leg-iron keys presented by Lady Mac Lean, Napier.
