Condemnation of a system that still allowed trundling milk carts and jugs and jars on doorsteps, was voiced by Dr. T. R. Vernon, micro-biolo-gist at Massey College, when speaking to Palmerston North Rotarians. A Palmerston North boy, Dr. Vernon, recently returned from London where his work has been in connection with the supplying of milk to London’s millions. After many years of absence he was able to see much material progress in the city of his youth, but had been amazed, he said, at the anachronism of milk carts, jugs and jars.
