MANAWATU A. AND P. SOCIETY. ELECTION OF. OFFICERS. PALMERSTON N„ April 7. A quarter which produced a net Profit of £371/11/2 and eminently successful show operations was revealed by the annual report and balancesheet adopted at the annual meeting tonight of the Manawatu and West Coast A. and P. Association. The meeting marked the retirement of the treasurer, Mr T. R. Hodder, after 30 years’ service in that position, and as committeeman and for a term as president, and he received many tributes. The meeting also ended Mr J. A. Russell’s term of presidency and he was accorded the association’s thanks. Mr A. Burgess was elected president rising automatically from senior vicepresident, the latter position being filled by Mr C. E. Vile. The election of other officers resulted' Patron, his Excellency the Governor-General, Lord Galway; vice-presidents, Messrs J. Hodgens, F. P. Ansford, B. E. Keiller, W. J. Blundell, E. W. Barnett; treasurer, Mr M. A. Eliott; general committee (12 vacancies), Messrs J. A. Russell, L. B. Wall, H. Voss, D. A. Scott, W. A. Sutherland, D. B. McEwen, D. Collis, R. O. Dalrymple, R. D. McKelvie, R. Linklater, H. B. Johnston, H. N. McEwen; auditor Mr N. I. Nielsen. Three new honorary life members were elected, Messrs J. Knight and L. H. Collinson and Mrs J. Windgate. It was recommended to the general committee that a special committee be set up to watch the Government’s National Council of Sport proposals and when necessary advocate the claims of the association’s grounds as ideal for recreation.
