GOVERNMENT PLAN. BUSINESS MEN’S VIEWS. WAIROA, April 7. The council of the Wairoa Chamber of Commerce has passed a motion in which it expresses its opinion that the Government’s medical and revised pension scheme, while desirable in the main, is, in view of New Zealand’s dependence on world markets, financially unsound, and is beyond the means and resources of the Dominion. The motion asks the Associated Chambers of Commerce to call evidence before the present Parliamentary Committee with a view to modifying the scheme.
