A car proceeding along the road next the Canal Reserve, Christchurch, recently was fortunate to escape without a broken window. A group of small boys were playing cricket on the road, and as the car went past at about twenty miles an hour one of the boys hit the ball hard. It travelled straight through a side window of the car, right in front of the passengers and then outside through the opposite window. Both windows were only open about four inches or less, and the occupants are now congratulating themselves both upon the escape of the car and their own immunity from what might have been a nasty injury. The game went on as if nothing had happened.
