PASSENGER TRANSPORT

DRIVERS APPLY FOR DOMINION AWARD. WELLINGTON, April 5. The second Arbitration Court began the hearing of a claim by the New Zealand Passenger Transport Drivers’ Union for a Dominion award. For the union, Mr F. C. Allerby said drivers were still being worked six days a week when five eight-hour days could be efficiently worked. The drivers were claiming an increase in wages to £6 per wek. The Union stressed the greater responsibility of drivers and the greater carrying capacity of vehicles.
