NEW TIGER MOTH

FOR MIDDLE DISTRICTS. CLUB.

PALMERSTON NORTH, April 5.

The Middle Districts Aero Club’s fleet of aircraft has been increased by one, a new Tiger Moth machine having arrived from Auckland. The fleet now consists of two Tiger Moths and a Porterfield two-place tandem seater cabin type high-wing monoplane. Tenders have been called for a new hangar and clubhouse which will be built on Union Airways’ side of Milson Aerodrome, and with the recent installation of a public address system members of the club will be equipped with up-to-date facilities and the public will be better catered for during club displays or other activities.

Both the Tiger Moths are equipped for blind flying and have full sets of instruments for blind and normal training. In addition they have complete sets of Sutton shoulder harness, giving pilots and passengers more comfort on cross-country flights and aerobatics.

The Porterfield, a plane of American manufacture equipped with wheel brakes, is a popular machine with club members and is the speediest of the fleet. It will be used mainly for passenger and cross-country trips. One of the Tiger Moths will be used as the primary trainer and aerobatic machine, the other for advanced training and cross-country flights.
