DOMINION MONARCH
NEW GIANT LINER ALMOST | READY FOR LAUNCHING. LONDON, March 12. The largest merchant ship to be built on the Tyne since the days of the Mauretania, the Dominion Monarch, is now nearing the launching stage and will be ready to take the water in the last week in June, though it will be about 12 months before the new ocean giant makes her maiden voyage. Built for the Shaw, Savill and Albion Line, the Dominion Monarch, of 27;000 tons gross, will be the largest and most powerful ship engaged on the New Zealand run. A large-scale model of the liner is now attracting great attention at the London offices of the owners, where it is on view. The new service will be via Madeira or Tenerifle, Capetown, Durban, Fremantle, Melbourne and Sydney, with a schedule for arrival in New Zealand 35 days after leaving the final United Kingdom port.
