HAWKE’S BAY TOURNAMENT. HASTINGS, April 4. The annual yankee tournament of the Hawke’s Bay Polo Club commenced at Hastings today. Seven senior teams and six junior teams, representing clubs in all parts of the North Island, are taking part in the tournament, which will conclude on Saturday. Seven games were played today, open and handicap games being played together. The following are the results:— Open Events. Senior grade: Hawke’s Bay defeated Poverty Bay B, 6-0; Rangitikei drew with Waipawa, 3-3; Poverty Bay A defeated Masterton A, 9-2; Hawke’s Bay defeated Wallingford, 6-0. Junior grade: Hastings defeated Atua, 8-3; Taihape A defeated Taihape B, 8-0; Masterton B defeated Waimarama, 16-0. Handicap Events.

Senior: Poverty Bay B (handicap 10) defeated Hawke’s Bay (6), 10-6; Waipawa (13) defeated Rangitikei (6), 13-9: Poverty Bay A (3) defeated Masterton A (6), 12-8; Hawke’s Bay (scr.) defeated Wallingford (3), 6-3.

Junior: Hastings (scr.) defeated Atua (4), 8-7; Taihape A (4) drew with Taihape B (12), 12-12; Masterton B (16) defeated Waimarama (12), 26-12.
