ALLEGED BETRAYAL

DR. SCHUSCHNIGG DENOUNCED BY HERR HITLER. THE MOBILISATION DECISION. (Received This Day, 1.50 p.m.) LONDON, April 1. The “Daily Telegraph’s” Stuttgart correspondent says Her Hitler, in a speech, declared that he decided to mobilise two days before the actual mobilisation as he received proof that Dr. Schuschnigg (then Austrian Chancellor) was preparing to betray his Berchtesgaden pledges. This proof was contained in a communication from Dr. Schusuchnigg to an Austrian provincial governor in which he stated that he had decided to yield to Herr Hitler's demands only to gain time until opinion abroad could be mobilised in his (Dr. Schuschnigg’s) favour.
