BOXING
WELTERWEIGHT TITLE JENKIN DEFEATS JARVIS DUNEDIN, March 31. A boxing contest at Oamaru tonight between Stan Jenkin, 10.3 (Oamaru), holder, and Jack Jarvis, 9.12 (Eltham), for the professional welterweight title ended in the third round, Jenkin winning by a knock-out. The fight was fairly even up to this stage, but the title-holder then connected with a heavy right to the solar plexus, Jarvis going down for the count. After a medical examination Jenkin was awarded the decision.
