THE TRAMWAY.
The following appears as an advertisement in the “ Independent,” and to which we refered in our leader last week. It is indeed gratifying to see the leading men of Wellington take on interest on this question, and Mr G. Carter who interested himself in putting it in train deserves •thethanks of the community.—“We the undersigned, hereby pledge ourselves to act as a Provisional Committee for the purpsse of forming a company for laying down a tramway from Wellington to the Wairarapa district, at Masterton, as shown on plan by Messrs Charles O’Neill and Ben. Smith, Civil Engineers, said trainway to be called the “ Wellington and Wairarapa Grand Trunk Tramway,” with a capital of £120,000, in 12,000 share of £lO each, with power to increase to 34.000 shares.
