Featherston, November 19. Before H. S. Waedell Esq., 11. M. W. Bignell v. William Williams and Richard Williams —Breach of Impounding Ordinance. Fined 10s each and costs. S. Sheen v. W. Davies—Debt, £3 lls. Amount paid into Court. Grettowx, Thursday 21. Vile v, Grant—Assault. Defendant having employed Messrs Hart and Buckley, solicitors, of Wellington, and they not being able to attend. At defendant’s request, and by paying expenses for the day and extra mileage, the case was adjourned to Peatherston, 17th December. J. W. Davies and J. Lawson were charged by Constable Butler with furious riding oii the 10th October. Davies was fined 40s, anil costs 13s; and Lawson 20s, and costs 13s. George Young was charged with drunkenness. Fined 5s or 24 hours imprisonment. G. MTortland v. D. Haggerty—Damages, 10s.. i Archibald Skipper v. James Wiltshire— Debt, £3 I4s lOd. Settled but of Court. t

E. Lucas (Agent) v. James Walker. —Claim, £ls. Summons not served. Thomas Hawke v. A, Johnston —Debt, £2 12s 2|-d. This was a claim for goods delivered in 1866. Defendant put in as a set-off, 10s . for girth. Judgment for £5 5s 21 d and costs. Same v. Komene—Debt, £8 4s oid. Judgment for £6 15s 9d, and costs 7s. Same v. Hone Manihera—Debt, £l2 9s Bd. Summons not served.

Same v. Paiwia—Debt, £9 8s 2d. Summons not served.

. A. Johnston was charged by Constable Butler with drunkenness and assault. Fined 5s and costs, or 24 hours imprisonment, J. E. 1. Boys v. Poika Te Po —The complainant charged the defendant, who did not appear, with a malicious injury to property, in having cut down and [destroyed two slip rails, and otherwise injuring a fence enclosing the Public Pound, at Greytown, thereby doing damage to the extent of £l. The only witness examined was Mr B. Maunsell, -whose evidence was, that Pirika was coming out of the yard as he passed, with an axe-in his hand, and pointing at the rails said “see, Te Manihera has impounded my horse off my own land at at Papawai, and I have cut down the fence.” He was much excited at the time. The defendant was ordered to pay the sum of £ I in addition to the amount of damage done, and 13s costs, and in default to be imprisoned for one month.

When the debt cases were on, the Magistrate refused to enter into the cases until the costs were paid by the plaintiffs, as it led to such confusion in the books.
