HOW ABOUT TELEGRAPH OFFICES FOR GREYTOWN AND MASTERTON?
This is now about it. It is understood that the General Government are waiting for,a site, and that they think that a portion of the, public reserves, in these towns should bo 'given ' to them for a nominal sum. They will not ,pay high sums for them when private parties at both Cirey.iowji.and Mas teuton are offer* ing sites for small-sums. The danger' is that^ f bo put in thh wron# places or not be put up at <tlL
vYe hear that the Provincial Government have agreed to pay £l5O a year for each office if the receipts are nil, and if r!ie receipts for one office were £2O the Government would have to pay £l3O, so that, if inclined, we presume, the Provincial Government cannot afford to pay a high price for sites when there are so many other pressing calls on the Treasury. \Ve trust that the Small Farm Association will he liberal in this matter.
