The Game Laws.— A Bill as been introduced by Mr. Pharazyn for the protection of certain birds and animals. It rims as follows--1“ The short title of this Act shall be ‘ The Pratection of certain Animals Act, Wellington 1867.’ 2. The word ‘game ’ for all the “purposes of this Act to include deer of any kind swan, wild goose, or wild duck, of any imported specie whatever, hares’ pheasants, partridges grouse, English plover, quail, health or moor game, black game and bustards, rooks, sparrows tmehes, thrushes, swallows, and such words shall also mean any Birds or Animals which shall have been or shall be proclaimed to come under the operation of this Act as hereinafter provided. 3. No person shall at any time before the expiration of five years from the passing of this Act, hunt, shoot at take or kill any game, or take or destroy the e<ms of any game within the Province of Wellington under a penalty in each or either of such cases ot not more than £5. Nothing in this Act shall extend to prevent the owner, or amperson authorised by the owner of any gam'which shall be kept in confinement ‘on !ui v enclosed ground, from causing any such gm e so kept or confined to be taken or killed (i tt shall be lawful for the Superintendent! with the advice ol his Executive Council, to declare by proclamation in the ‘ New Zealand Gove ment “Gazette" Province of Wellington* that any other birds or animals not herein specified shall be protected and come in, K-r the operation ofthe same, and from time 10 time to revoke, alter, or amend such proclamation. 1
