"VT OTICE is hereby given that a block of Li land, situate in the TaratahiPlain Block, Wairarapa, hitherto reserved until after the survey, will be open for selection at this office, on and after Thursday, the 20th day of December inst., under the Land Regulations of the Province of Wellington. This block contains about 400 acres more or less, and is bounded north by selections of James Leydon ; east by section No. 191 ; south by selection of Charles Edwards (80 acres), and by selecticn of Samuel Page, and west by Crown Land. TO CONTRACTORS. ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH EXTENSIONS fTIHE Eletricf Telegraph Commissioner isprei pared to receive Tenders for the construction of a line of Electric Telegraph between Masterton and Castle Point, both in the province of Wellington. The route wifi be indicated by the Telegraphic Engineer, and will be generally along the present line of road. Tenders are to be made at a price per mile. The Contractor will have to keep the line in repair for twelve months after it has been handed over to the Government as completed. The Contractor will have to provide all labor, tools, and implements, all wooden poles, and except as hereafter mentioned, all other materials, and to defray all expenses of freight, carriage, or cartage, necessary for carrying out the work. The Government will supply wire, insulators, bolts, and pole roofs. The poles to be sawn out of heart of totara, matai, blue gum, or stringy bark, to be straight and free from shakes or sap, and to be delivered without delay. The poles to be charred as per specification, but not till they have been delivered at the points where they will have to be erected. The Telegraphic Engineer will inform contractors when they can char and commence the erection of poles. The usual security will be required. Each tender is to be accompanied with a deposit of £25 as a guarantee of good faith, which sum will be forfeited should any tenderer refuse to sign the contract in the event of his tender being accepted. Specifications can be seen and full particulars obtained by applying to the Telegraphic Engineer, at the Telegraph Station, Wellington. Tenders addressed “ the Telegraphic Engineer , Wellington, and endorsed Tenders for construction of Telegraph,” between Masterton and Castle Point, to be sent in not later than 12, noon, on the Ist February, 1567.
