DISTRICT NEWS.

-pirongia mm tennis CLUB. (Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the above club was held at Pirongia on Tuesday, and was attended by a fair number of members. The balance-sheet and report of the committee were read and adopted. It was decided to officially open the season on the last Saturday in .October, and a committee of members undertook to kzeep the courts in order for a few weeks pending the appointment of a cai'etaker. A vote of thanks was passed to the retiring officers. Miss Fear and Mr Geo. Finn were appointed joint secretaries, MfN. Chappell was elected as treasurer, and a management committee formed.

A very hearty vote of thanks was recorded to Miss E. I. Miller, who had pi'esented the club with six lawn seats. This vote was carried with acclamation, which was fitting evidence of the appreciation of the members.
