WHAREPUHANGA.

(Own Con'espondent.) After an absence of three months, a survey party under Mr R. S. Galbraith have recommenced operations in the block of 25, 000 acres of bush and fern land, which lies to the south of this distinct. Another party under Mr Edgecumbe will also take to the field shortly, and there are rumors of a third pai'ty going out. So the Government evidently intend that this valuable block shall be opened for settlement without delay. Engines, milking machines, sepai'ators and cream cans, etc., have been arriving in the district during the last week, and the first dairy season of Wharepuhanga will shortly open in earnest. The tender of Messrs Boyd and Clark for the cartage of cream to the station has been accepted. The i-oads ai-e now in splendid condition for this time of the year, and preparations are being made for the grading machine, which is expected sliortly.
