WIN FOR SAXONS

A hockey match was played between teams representing the Saxons'and Normans on Wednesday afternoon, resulting in a win for the former by 5 goals to 4. The teams bullied-off at 3.40, and a very fast game ensued.from start to finish. For some time after the start the Normans had the best of the game, and once or twice looked very much like scoring. Up and down play was very prevalent for some minutes, when from a free hit given against Moeller, the Saxons' did some good passing and A. Kay secured the first goal. Saxons ... ... I Normans 0 An even game followed for some time, and from out of bounds Cox took the ball, and after a few exciting seconds he eventually got the ball between the posts. Saxons ... ... I From the bully off there was some good up and down play, and the Saxons did some good hard hitting and got the ball into the Norman's circle, when Dill (Norman) put another nail into his own coffin by propelling the ball between the posts to the credit of the Saxons. hard pressed, but Douglas saved the situation, and Kay got hold of the ball and took it right down the field where Taylor had an unsuccessful , shot at a goal. Saxons were again on the defensive,whichwas ended by Cox who made an attempt at a goal from a difficult angle but missed. More even play followed, and from a free hit against Ansell, Cox took the ball right down the field and secured second honours for his side. • Saxons ... ... 4 Normans ... ... 2 ' Normans were again on thefdefensive, and a'penalty bully was given against Dill, from which Anderson secured another goal for Saxons. Saxons ... ... 5 Normans ... ... 2 Time sounded soon after this, with the scores unchanged. Goals were secured for Saxons by Kay (2), Anderson (2); Dill (1) ; and Normans, Cox (2). Mr Empson very efficiently controlled the game.
