TUHI KAKA TO DIE.

REPRIEVE REFUSED.

CABLE TO BE SENT TO THE KING. Wellington, Sunday. The case of Tahi Kaka, now under sentence of in Auckland Gaol, for the murder of John Freeman at Puhipuhi, was further considered by the Executive yesterday. At the conclusion of the deliberations the Hon. James Carroll (Acting-Prime Ministeij,' stated that it had been decided to re-affirm the previous decision of the Executive, that the law must take its course, and Tahi must therefore pay the full penalty of his crime. The Executive, under the pre-, sidency of the Governor (Lord Islington), met in the morning, and it was not until 5 o'clock that a decision was arrived at.

The numerous telegrams, letters, and petitions, which had been forwarded to Wellington on behalf of the condenfned youth, had all to be dealt with, and every detail of evidence hud again to be gone into. It is officially stated that no circumstances which could be considered favorable to prisoner were excluded from the deliberations of the Executive.

It 'is now proposed to carry the reprieve movement a step further by appealing to the King, and Archdeacon Calder has stated that it is his intention to communicate with the Governor asking him to forward a cable to His Majesty King George praying for Tuhi Kaha's reprieve. "'--^
