TE AWAMUTU CHESS CLUB.
On Thursday evening /last some chess enthusiasts met and formed a local Chess Club. MiBertram, of Hairini, was elected president, and Dr Reekie treasurer and secretary. These officers were instructed to draw up rules and make arrangements for the meetings of the club. It was decided at the meeting to make the club a branch of the Young Men's Institute, members of which will pay an additional 2s 6d, per annum into the funds of the Chess Club. The following chess-play-ers have signified their willingness to become members, and Ihe secretary would be pleased Lo heai from any others dersious oi' joining; 'Vk Bertram, Reekie, Woo-'. A. Gi fiord, Charlton Wat*- , Lanioncl, Moeller,( Stevenson, DeMey, Gilbert, Fear;" 1 Collins, am! Rdgeeombe. The club meets on Thursday evening at 7.30 in Dr Reekie's room at the chemist's shop.
