CORONATION CELEBRATIONS.

DIVINE SERVICE COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the committee in charge of the morning services on Coronation Day was held on Wednesday morning, the Rev. F. W. Clarke presiding. It was resolved that invitations be sent to the Town Band, Territorials, Cadets, Lodges, etc., to take part in the procession on Coronation Day. The procession to meet at the English Church and proceed past the Post Office, round the Bank of New Zealand, to the Recreation Ground, if the day was fine enough to have the service in the open air, and if not, to the public hall: Colonel Ryder and Staff Sergt. Instructor Hatt were appointed to take charge of the procession. Mr E. Moeller was to be asked to take charge of a united choir to lead the singing. And it was resolved to get a thousand hymn sheets printed for the use of those attending the service. FINANCE COMMITTEE.

A meeting of the above committee was held in the Public Library on Thursday morning, Mr W. F. Stewart presiding, when it was decided to issue collecting lists and to canvass the town for subscriptions in order to provide funds to give the children prizes and a tea in the Town Hall, on the afternoon of Coronation Day. Mr W. Von Sturmer was appointed treasurer, and a vigorous canvass of the town is to be made. The hope was expressed that a liberal response would be made to this appeal, as in addition to treating the children well, the committee decided if a surplus remained, that it should go towards the permanent memorial which is to be erected in the Recreation Grounds.
