KORAKONUI.
(Own Correspondent.)
On Saturday night the settlers held a meeting at the residence of Mr Girven to decide on site for a school. Mr Lawry was voted to the chair. The secretary (Mr H. W. Peake) read the minutes of the last meeting, also correspondence from the Board of Education, as to when the building was likely to be ready he also stated that he had informed the Board that the timber was already ordered. The chairman then reminded them that they had met to decide on a site for the school, after some discussion it was decided that the secretary write to the Land Board asking permission to erect it on the creamery reserve. It was stated that the timber was at the station and was to be carted at once. It was decided to call another meeting when the secretary received an answer from the Board. The chairman then brought the meeting to a close with the usual votes of thanks.' On Tuesday night the Rev. Lamond held a service in Mr Givern's house which was very well attended.
On Saturday last Messrs Bird, Whither and Worthington paid a visit to the district to see what repaks—were necessary to the roads, and decided to put in some new culverts at once. Other work will be undertaken as soon as funds are available. I hear that Mr Austin of Wharepuhanga has sold his farm to a gentleman from Mangaweka.
